So, where to start?
It's a miracle I even got my hands on a copy of this film in the first place. It's not the kind of thing anyone is going to bother putting out on DVD. Luckily, some entrepreneur out there was selling homemade copies he must have burnt from...a vhs? I'm not sure. I'm imagining a Raiders of the Lost Ark scenario here, this gentleman receives my email and then ventures deep into the vaults to retrieve that thing, that prize - Mojo!
It's a peculiar film.
The first thing I thought when I saw Andy Serkis appear on screen was, goddamn, again? They must have both been buzzing around the scene at the same time. That's cute. Chalk up another couple of BFFs to The Cabal.
Andy in this is completely awesome btw and rocking a freaking sweet 'do, but I digress.
Hans.
Hans' character in this is...absolutely sublime and treading this amazing line between being innocent and naive and knowing but yet not what you'd call manipulative. The fact is, he knows what people want from him but, oh dear, these men make your skin crawl watching them and he is in over his head.
Johnny (Hans' character) does not know himself. He's incredibly vulnerable, but has this ambition to use his assets to his advantage, to fulfill his dreams of fame and fortune. It's just...you can see him breaking down inside over the price that's being demanded. Forcing himself to step up to it. It's brutal and yeah, it's Hans doing that thing he does best. Shaking from the inside out, showing you the pressure that's wound up deep within the character, the cracks that are starting to form.
And that wavering, teary eyed smile. Hugging his skinny little knees. There are parts of this where his voice is so, so soft and quiet.
The main character of the film is really Baby (Aiden Gillen! Being fabulous as per usual!) and Hans doesn't get so much screen time, but what's there is good stuff. Baby is an excellent character besides and his relationship to Johnny is completely heartbreaking. When you realize what Baby's deal really is...dear Lord, it creates this incredibly complex dynamic that's very sweet and completely messed up at the same time.
There are flaws. The story is a bit confusednot enough Hans and the pacing is kind of flat. I found the actors all really enjoyable to watch, so I didn't mind that so much. The ENDING makes up for all the flaws anyway.
Oh, and Hans sings. A cappella. The context of which is pretty...nasty.

Youtube playlist is here. (If anyone wants a full version of this thing and they know how to make a torrent, or otherwise upload it, then give me a shout.)
The bits with Hans are in parts 1, 2, 5, 7 and 8.
Pssst,
unsettledink , if you watch ten seconds of video this week make sure it's this. "Sometimes, I-I feel like I'm going...mad" *crazy smile* "I dare say I like the attention."
anneka_neko , singing Hans? Singing Hans.

I tried to upload it to Megaupload and it was like "this will taken ten days to complete" so I was probably doing something wrong there... o.O I might try again.
6 days! 144 hours! 8640 minutes! Better get typing away. :P

Oh, that's weird ... Have you tried some other sites? I'm sure megaupload can't be the only upload-thing out there ...
Don't remind me. I already hate this thing way too much. *kicks fic around*
