So here's a thing...

I was talking to [livejournal.com profile] firestorm717  about postcards and such and such which led pretty quickly to this exchange:

[livejournal.com profile] firestorm717 : Hm, you know, we should totally do fandom postcards...like RPing letters between characters? Maybe even form a ring, with one person sending to the next on the list.

[livejournal.com profile] viceindustrious : YES, woa, YES. That is the coolest idea ever! Am I lame for thinking that's the coolest idea ever? RPing letters. I WOULD BE ALL OVER THAT.

[livejournal.com profile] firestorm717 :  LETTER RP FTW. You should make a post about it and get unsettled, anneka, and whoever else on board :D We can hash out the details as a group.

So. So guys. Do you think this sounds like a wicked idea? Is it just my crazy love for getting actual mail?

And oh! With LETTERS character choice of stationary and colour of ink and...and...all of that! It would be magnificent really? PEOPLE? AGREE?

We could have a big old discussion about this on IM if we got everyone to sign on at some particular time. Which reminds me, any of you guys that I don't have on my yahoo contacts need to step up and correct that.

VICE. VIIIIIIICE. POKE.

Btw. Totally (finally) got around to sending postcards today. Am excited for when people get them.

Although. That is a super cool idea and I would read the heck out of it like hell yeah, but. RPing. Idk. One of those things I can't wrap my mind around.

But I'd still be up for crazy IM discussion at some hour later tonight (Silly O'clock for you.)

Is that 'why aren't you online' poking? :P

I CANNOT MULTITASK AND I AM TRYING TO DO STUFF AND FAILING MISERABLY.

(I'll be on later but it might be too late even for you! Like. 5am here or something. o.O)

[identity profile] unsettledink.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
It was. And then I had to get offline, so it didn't matter.

Awww. *pet pet* If multitasking involves writing part two, NO NO I WILL NOT TALK TO YOU GO WRITE. Ahem. Yeah. I forget that not everyone thinks multitasking is as fun as I do.

Five am there? Would be about ...11 pm here. ...which is seriously not even remotely late for me, but what are you doing up?!

Silly question, right?

[identity profile] the-me09.livejournal.com 2010-09-15 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
HOLY SHIT VICE!

YOU, YOU, YES THIS!

[identity profile] viceindustrious.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
I AM GLAD YOU AGREE :D

[identity profile] anneka-neko.livejournal.com 2010-09-15 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
xD OH you two. I LIKE IT. I even have a page where I totally tried to decide what Hani's signature would look like! xD

Am about to go to class, and will be back in about two and a half hours. Assuming the internet doesn't keep cutting out, will be up for discussion then!

[identity profile] firestorm717.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Oooh, I want to see. Did you also figure out how to write it in Arabic?

[identity profile] anneka-neko.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
Um no. AM NOT CAPTAIN FUCKIN' MAGIC.

Damn. I should ask one of the students taking Arabic about it, though. UNFORTUNATELY ONE OF MY TWO CLASSES IS GERMAN, SO CLEARLY THEY'RE ALL OUT. xD

And I might scan it if I remember where I put it.

[identity profile] firestorm717.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I figure you could just stick it in Google translate since that's what I've been doing with all my fic with foreign words XD.

[identity profile] anneka-neko.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Eh, I rely on such things for understanding the basic meaning. For accurate translation, nsm.

[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com 2010-09-15 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
You know I love postcards! Yay! Although I'd probably be really bad at RPing letters. ;)

Erm, yeah, and I still don't have yahoo, so no IM for me. ;)

[identity profile] viceindustrious.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
You need to get yahoo man. It is quite good. :D

[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe it is. Maybe I should. But I really, REALLY shouldn't add another thing to the already endless list of ways not to write my uni paper. ;)

[identity profile] unsettledink.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Or you^ should get pidgin. Then you can talk no matter what im is used.

Is awesome.

[identity profile] firestorm717.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
You know I'm totally on board with this :D It would be so cool to pick out letterheads, ink colors, etc for a character! (Though my handwriting isn't quite so flexible as Eames').

I'm free all of tomorrow (though I can't stay up too late), so just poke me when you're online ^_^. Even for those who don't want to RP, we can share addresses for regular postcard purposes...which reminds me, I need to find some decent stationery...unless you want it all Photoshopped >_O.

[identity profile] viceindustrious.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
Don't worry! I will be poking people. Once I get on a computer with IM capabilities and I see they're online.

(Stationery shopping is fun! Go mad!)

[identity profile] deborahkla.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 01:45 am (UTC)(link)

Sounds great, but what would we need technically to achieve it?

[identity profile] viceindustrious.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
These are details that need to be worked out, for sure. Especially since we're all multi fandom people.

Hmmm, I just like the idea of sending a letter IC and getting one back. Oh these two people are separated for X reason and imagine what they would write to each other, how fun would that be.

[identity profile] deborahkla.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 07:50 am (UTC)(link)

Reminds me a bit of the erotic haikus a drunken Landa wrote about Hellstrom when he was away on a case for a fortnight, only without letterhead illustrations, etc.:
